GLP research: receptors, agonists and research terminology
GLP-related research spans single-receptor, dual-receptor and multi-receptor molecules. This hub organizes the terminology without treating research materials as medicines or giving human-use guidance.
What “GLP” means in this research context
GLP-1 is glucagon-like peptide-1, an endogenous peptide hormone and a major target in metabolic research. Research programs may also evaluate GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) and the glucagon receptor, alone or in multi-receptor molecules.
On the internet, shorthand can be inconsistent. A phrase such as “GLP-3” is sometimes used informally for a triple agonist, but there is not a standard “GLP-3 receptor” corresponding to that label. A more precise description identifies the actual receptors involved.

Research materials are not finished drug products
A research-use material and an FDA-approved finished drug are not interchangeable categories. A research label does not make a material suitable for personal use, and references to published research do not change its intended use.
